Casino Island 2 Slots

After playing many of the interactive and high-tech slots from WMS, I had to do a quick double-take when first seeing Casino Island 2. The word ‘retro’ is one way of putting it, though I think ‘historical’ could be more accurate. This is a wander down memory lane to the very first 5 reel video slot machines.

It is incredibly basic, plays a jolly tune in the background and has a nautical / vacation feel-good theme to it too. If you are looking for video clips, movie tie-ins and big linked progressive jackpots, then WMS offer plenty of those. If you’d prefer to keep things simple and enjoy an old-style solid video slot game, then Casino Island 2 could be ideal for you.

Playing Casino Island 2

This slot has 9 win-lines spread over 5 reels and 3 rows of symbols. Unusually, when I first played, the default was set to the minimum (1 line) rather than the maximum – though fixing this is very quick. You can spin from just 1c per line (9c for all) up to $5 per line ($45 max spin). The pay-table will change to show the prizes you can win for each of the spin amounts. I did not see an auto-play option for this slot.

Treasure chests are the best paying symbol, paying 6000 coins for 5 on a win-line (1000 coins for 4). Next comes the anchor worth 1000 coins for 5, with the lighthouse (750) and compass (500) coming next. There are plenty more nautical symbols making up the pay outs. These include a ship’s wheel, life-saver, propeller, ship, seagull and ship’s bell. My experience was of many smaller wins, with the ships bell and seagull paying from 2 on a line and the other symbols requiring a minimum of 3 on a line. The symbols do have some minimal animations, for example the bell swings from side to side.

There is one other symbol in the form of yacht. This does not have a pay-out of its own, instead triggering the bonus round with 2 or more anywhere on the reels.

Casino Island 2 Bonus Game

By modern standards, the single bonus game in this slot is so retro that it might easily be called quaint. Back when video slots were new, the whole concept of breaking out from the main reels and going to a new screen where you could play a game for money was very novel. Try to keep this in mind when you see the bonus game.

You’ll see the see and a yacht, at the bottom of the screen. At the top are some islands, rocks, and a lighthouse and so on. Though it is not entirely clear from the outset, your task is to choose one of these by clicking on it. What then happens is that your ship ‘sails’ to your chosen point – and you are awarded a cash prize. The prizes for the ones that you did not choose also appear to assure you everything was fair.

Not the most advanced bonus game I have ever played – though when I first saw this game I was not actually expecting there to be one at all.

Casino Island 2 – Conclusion

The only reason I can think of to check out this slot is for the historical quaintness of it. Sure, the music and blocky yet colourful symbols make for a playable enough game – but even if you like that aspect there are many better games out there. Even the bonus game has its charms, just pick and island and your ship will sail to it. A fun slot which did make me smile, though I cannot imagine that I would ever feel the need to return.
