Free Grandmas Attic Slots
Though not quite old enough for Grandma to have played, this slot is certainly starting to get a little retro! A popular game, there are still some good reasons to take it for a spin. The theme based on the lure of an attic at Gran’s house, which is filled with treasures. To emphasize this, there are rats, a skeleton and some jewels on the reels. Unusually, many of the other symbols are the fruits more associated with 3 reel slots than 5 reel video slots like this one.
The top win is worth hitting from regular play, and there is a free spins game which involves multipliers too. This game also has a break out bonus game, where you will go into Grandma’s attic – and could well come out with a lot of her treasures.
How to Win on Grandma’s Attic
There are 15 win lines going across the 5 reels, and the symbol you’ll want to see line up the most is the sitting down skeleton. This is the wild symbol, as well as having the top individual prize of 7500 coins for 5, 2000 coins for 4, 200 for 3 and 10 coins for 2. Any wins which you make by combining the wild with other symbols is doubled – during the free spins round this is instead tripled.
Compared to the wild the ‘jackpot’ symbol feels like the prize is on the low side. This is the crown, and is worth 750 coins for 5, 125 for 4 and 25 coins for 3. The red jewel comes next on the list at 400 coins for 5. Strangely the broken old sofa (250) and rat (200) are the next highest paying symbols. The fruits, which include a purple pineapple, make up the smaller wins.
There are two scatter symbols, each of which plays a role in the bonus games as well as having wins attached. These wins trigger depending on how many scatters are in view on the reels, regardless of whether they are on a win line. You’ll get 50x your total spin amount for 5 of either the skeleton key or closet, 5x for 4 and 1x for 3 keys / 2x for 3 closets.
Grandma’s Attic Bonus Games
Free spins are very much like the regular slot game, you get 10 spins for 3+ of the closet symbols. The only noticeable difference is the counter on the top left of the reels. Wins which involve the wild skeleton are tripled during this part of the game. You can re-trigger more free spins, or even get the break out bonus game while playing them.
The break out bonus is a pick-em type game, which is triggered when hitting 3+ of the skeleton key symbols. You will see a scene with 6 treasure chests (plus some cobwebs for that attic effect). All you need to do is click on the chests. This will open them revealing how many coins you won. Some chests will also contain a skeleton key – in which case you get another pick. If there is no key then you win is totaled and you return to the main game.
Setup and Design for Grandma’s Attic
15 win lines marks this out as an older Rival Gaming slot, even before you see the graphics to confirm this. You can lower the number of lines if you wish, and you can also change your coin size and the number of coins per line. To complete the flexible options you can choose to play manually, or automatically using the ‘auto’ button.
Overall this is a fast and cleanly designed slot. The reels are white, with crisply contrasting symbols – most of which are in circles. Around the reels there are cobwebs. Between spins you will hear the sound of the wind, with some creepy creaking too. When you spin the sounds are more the old beeps and whirrs that used to go with every video slot.
Symbols are drawn nicely enough, though their style and design are certainly not modern. During the break out bonus the graphics step up a level, though again you should not expect anything spectacular.
Despite being an older game, this slot is still enjoyable – I can see why is was an online favorite in its day. The chance of a big win from regular play is always a plus, though I did find that the break out bonus game has some generous prizes too.
