Fantasy Fortune Slot from Rival Gaming

Think Dungeons and Dragons, medieval castles and wizards, and you’ll have nailed the theme of Fantasy Fortune – a 5 reel online slot game from Rival Gaming. While you will find many more visually attractive slots based on this theme, there are still some great reasons to check this one out.

First, you can win big from the regular spins – with a 5000 coin top prize that will be tripled if you hit it during the free spins bonus game. Second there is a break out bonus game where you get to explore rooms in a castle. This has the potential to add plenty of coins to your bankroll as long as you can avoid the Black Knight.

  • How to Win on Fantasy Fortune

This slot has 20 win lines – and you’ll need to line up symbols from the left hand side to win. Most symbols require 3 or more, with the dragon the exception that only requires 2. This is also the top paying symbol, and the wild. Dragons substitute for any of the non-scatter symbols to create wins. If you line up 5 on a line, then you’ll receive the 5000 coins top prize. 4 dragons are worth 1000 coins, 3 get you 100 and 10 coins are the consolation prize for just 2.

Castles are the ‘jackpot’ symbol, though with only 1000 coins for 5 on a line – this is not a jackpot in the traditional sense. Other symbols are the knight (fully kitted out in armor) at 400 coins for 5, the maiden (300), black knight (225), white horse (200) and then a goblin, ice maiden, goblet and jewel – which take up the role usually reserved for the playing card symbols in making up the smaller wins.

There are two types of scatter symbol on the reels, these do not depend on win-lines and will trigger wins depending on how many are in view. Wizards pay 25x your total bet for 5 in view, 2x that bet for 4 and 1x for 3 – these will also trigger the free spins game. The castle door triggers the bonus round with 3+ anywhere visible on the reels.

    Fantasy Fortune Slot Bonus Games

You get 10 free spins regardless of how many wizard symbols triggered them. When you hit this bonus a large pop up announcing the spins appears in the middle of the screen, and you click ok to continue. The game play is identical to the regular spins, though all of your wins are subject to a 3x multiplier.

The bonus round takes you away from the screen into what is supposed to be an exploration type game. You are a knight and are faced with a choice of 3 doors. You click on one and get either gems, gold or meet the Black Knight (which ends the bonus). This shows a lot of promise when you first trigger it, though the game simply a matter of choosing the same 3 doors again each time. At least you can accumulate some nice prizes!

    Setup and Game Play

You can adjust the 20 lines all the way down to 1 if you wish, and will also get flexibility in your coin denomination and the number of coins you play per line. Sound effects are a medieval tune with a slot drumbeat and drone sounding instrument in the foreground (not quite as bad as it sounds, though nothing too special either). There are more modern computer noises when you spin the reels.

Overall, this slot looks a little dated to me – the symbols are smart enough, though lack the detail, brightness and shading work of more up to date slots. There are some animations when you win (though not all symbols have one). The dragon is noticeable here, it tilts its head back and breathes fire. Animation for the bonus game is better, though again this is the ‘better’ of 6 to 8 years ago – and does not quite come up to the standard of modern web graphics.

    Overall Experience

This is one of those slots which could have been more interesting with a more up to date design, more interesting on-reel behavior (expanding wilds for example) and a little more attention to the bonus game.

If you enjoy the fantasy type slots, the Dungeons and Dragons trilogy from IGT are much better – and slots like ThunderStruck II from MicroGaming are along similar lines and way better.

That is not to say Fantasy Fortune is all bad – it is a colorful video slot game with the potential for some big wins. Take a look for yourself soon!
