Halloween Fortune Slots
There are a lot of Halloween / haunted house type slots around – which means a title in this niche needs to have something a little extra to stand out from the crowd. My first impression of this slot was that the graphics certainly help to make it stand out. There are witches involved, though not your usual gnarled old crones. These are glamourous cartoon witches, with a lot of makeup and fetching clothes. Game-play wise there is less to report on. The main feature is a free spins round. While this can come with a multiplier of up to 10x, and does have a pick-em component up front – there is nothing particularly original or interesting about it.
The setting for Halloween Fortune is a night time scene with the full moon and some trees stripped of their leaves and spiders webs. The reels are transparent, giving you a good look at the whole scene each time they spin. Symbols are more colourful, and are very nicely drawn. These include a skill with a candle on top, black cat, raven, carved pumpkin and an engraved jewel of some kind. The 3 witches also appear. These will fly off of the screen on their respective broomsticks when creating a win. There are different animations and sound effects for wins. The best of these is for 3+ of the scatter symbols (the logo). When you hit the scatter wins, bats will fly out of the screen towards you. There is a plodding ghostly sound track while you play; this gives a light-hearted overall feel to the game – especially when combined with the fun animations.
How to Play & Real Money Versions of Halloween Fortune
As with most PlayTech slots, you can choose the number of win-lines as well as the coin size per line before your spin. There are 20 maximum (and with wilds in play I recommend you stay with the max). You can bet from just 1c per line, up to $1 – giving spin amounts of 20c to $20 for the full amount of lines.
Auto-play is available for up to 99 spins at a time. You will also have the chance to gamble after a win on the flip of a playing card. This is a simple enough game (choose black or red), though the graphics are very nicely done – you’ll see a bookcase which looks like it belongs to a witch.
The wild symbol is the carved pumpkin. This substitutes for everything except the scatter, and also has the highest single prize. For 5 of these on a win-line you will win 10,000 coins, with 1000 coins for 4, 100 for 3 and 10 for just 2.
Witches come next, with the one with the green background worth the most at 1000 coins for 5, the blue-backed which worth 500 and the pink worth 400. All of these pay from 2+ on the reels. The cat, raven, skull, potion and jewel are the lower paying symbols – Halloween Fortune does not resort to using playing card symbols.
There are two special symbols. The first is a scatter – this is the logo. You can win up to 50x your total bet amount for hitting 5 of these anywhere on the reels, with 10x for 4 and 5x for just 5. The final symbol is the bonus sign, which is a cauldron that appears on reels 1 and 5 only. If you hit both of these you will trigger the Witches Brew bonus game.
Bonus Game for Halloween Fortune
This bonus is essentially a free spins round. What makes it different is that there is a 2-stage pick-em game to complete before things get started. First you will see a graphic with each of the 3 witches, all looking very glamourous in a cartoon kind of a way. You select one of these, and then go to another screen where your choice will be surrounded by 6 potions. Again you choose one to proceed. By the time your picks are over you will have a number of free spins, and a multiplier for each win up to 20 spins and 10x multiplier respectively.
Just to add a little more interest, getting a cauldron on both reels 1 and 5 during the spins adds a random number of extra spins at the same multiplier. This has the potential to be a very profitable bonus game.
I liked this slot for the graphics, smooth game-play and sense of humour. It is not the most feature-rich slot you will find in the PlayTech range, though it is a solid and entertaining game. No need to wait until Halloween to give this one a try – check it out for yourself now!
