Pharaoh’s Ring Slot Game
Some of the game play in Pharaoh’s Ring slot, an Ancient Egypt theme, might seem very familiar. The key component is the book, which has the same system of selecting a special symbol for the free spins bonus game from the popular ‘Book of Ra’ series of games. There is a unique element in the form of a ring. This is an optional extra symbol which you can include on the reels for extra credits per spin. This is an additional wild which substitutes for the bonus / scatter symbols as well as the regular ones. Compared to many of the other Ancient Egypt themed slots from Novomatic, this game has some excellent graphics and animations.
How to Win on Pharaoh’s Ring
Before you spin the Pharaoh’s Ring slot machine, you need to decide whether to include the special ring symbol or not. This will cost you 5 extra coins per spin. The benefit is that you get an extra wild – and one that can help to trigger the bonus game in Pharaoh’s Ring slot game (and become a special expanding symbol during that game). My preference is to include this, a small price to pay for an enhanced game experience!
Regular wins are topped by a very detailed and stern looking Pharaoh. If you line up five of these on any of the 20 win-lines, you’ll win 5000 coins, with 1000 for 4, 100 for 3 and 10 for just 2 from the left. Unusually, all of the unique symbols pay from just 2 of a kind in this game. The black cat is the next best symbol, worth 2000 coins for 5, with the scarab beetle and jewel showing a woman in white sharing a 750-coin prize. There are playing cards to make up the smaller wins.
Expanding Symbols and Free Games
The final symbol on the reels is an ancient looking book, which has the word bonus written vertically on either side of it. You will need 3+ of these to trigger 10 free spins. Note that a combination of 2 and the optional ring symbol will also trigger the feature.
There is a scatter prize before the bonus game begins. This depends how many books you hit for the triggering spin and is topped by 4000 coins for 5. You’ll get 400 coins for 4 and 40 for just 3.
Before your 10 free spins start you’ll see a graphic where the book opens and the pages flip rapidly, each page shows a different symbol. This slows down, then stops on a symbol which becomes your special expanding symbol for the bonus game. During the spins, each time you hit one of your chosen symbols, it expands to cover all 3 spots on that reel. If you hit several across the reels, then it is possible to get some really good coverage – potentially even triggering all 20 win-lines at the same time. Note that the ring is still present if you chose to play with this, it will also turn into your special symbol.
Design and Setup
There is nothing special about the surroundings of the reels for the Pharaoh’s Ring slot – this is simply a plain pink and purple design with a fairly elaborate logo in the middle above the reels. When you first see the tan colored reels and proliferation of playing card symbols, the impression is of an older video slot. Once you see the unique symbols, you’ll see that this title is much better than most Novomatic games when it comes to graphics. The level of detail on the Pharaoh and scarab beetle in particular is very good – and the animations when you win are excellent. The book pages turning animation before the bonus game is also worth seeing.
Sound effects start with the standard cacophony of beeps when you spin. When you hit a win, some ancient Egyptian style beeps kick in.
Other than your choice of whether to include the special ring symbol for 5 extra coins, this game has a very standard 20-line setup over a 5 reel, 3 row grid. You can select you preferred number of lines, and choose a real-money bet from just 1c per line and up. The gamble after win is included in this game, as is an auto-play option.
Adding an optional extra ‘super wild’ to the Book of Ra concept works very well. This is a solid slot, with graphics that are a lot better than many of Novomatic’s Egypt themed games. The small investment of 5 more coins can pay off really well, especially when this ring helps you trigger a bonus game you would otherwise have missed. The top payout of 5000 coins from the base game is also worth a mention.
