Ninjas Path Slot Game from Novomatic
Available In:
USA Regional

Compared to many free slots in the Novomatic range, the graphics and overall smoothness of the game play certainly moves up a level for Ninja’s Path.

As you would expect from the name, the ancient Japanize art takes center stage. Both throwing stars and the Ninja himself are central to the game. In a similar vein to other Novomatic titles, the game play is not complex or fancy.

The main focus is on the free spins bonus round, where hitting wins which include Ninjas (which are wild) will bring you a multiplier which can go as high as 9x the amount on the pay table.

How to Win on Ninja’s Path

This slot has 25 win lines, with a minimum of 2 coins per line (for a 50c minimum bet). The prizes are paid out in coins, with the amounts listed below per coin bet. The face of the Ninja staring out from the reels at you is the biggest paying symbol – and also the wild. If you hit 5 of these on a line, you’ll get 6000 coins plus any other wins completed with regular symbols on other lines. 4 of a kind are worth 1500 with 200 for 3 and 10 for just 2 from the left. Note that this wild does not substitute for the throwing star (which is the scatter symbol).

Next in the pay table comes the Japanize lady, worth 1000 coins for the full 5 going all the way down to 5 coins for 2 from the left. The solider in elaborate gear pays 500 for 5, with the gold bars paying 300 and ancient scroll paying 250. There are 6 playing card symbols in this slot. These have curved angular designs which make them fit nicely with the overall theme – and make up the smaller wins as usual.

The final symbol is the throwing star. This is a scatter and bonus symbol. You’ll win a multiple of your bet from 4 to 200x for 3, 4 or 5 on the reels. Regardless of how many appear, 3 or more will trigger the bonus round of 10 free spins.

Ninja’s Path Free Spins Bonus with Multipliers

What starts off looking like an ordinary free spins bonus game has some extras which do make this slot stand out. First of all, wins with the Ninja (wild) make the next spin award wins with 5x the listed prize (with the exception of other ninja wins). If you hit 2 ninja wins in a row, then the 3rd spin in the sequence will award wins at 9x the total.

Hitting Ninja’s during the free spins will also extend this bonus, potentially making it very long. Even a single one will win you an extra free spin. 2 gets you 2 more spins, 3 get you 4 spins – then things get very interesting for those times you hit 4 or 5 ninjas during the bonus. Here you get 30 or 50 free spins added to your total respectively.

In addition to those multiplier and extra spin, hitting 3+ of the throwing stars again will get you another 10 spins on top.

Design and Setup

I like this design, which is a lot fresher and more up to date than most Novomatic slots. The header shows a stunning full moon, with the logo made up of curved blades. The reels have a black background, which suits this slot well, bringing out the vivid colors and detailed graphics. The stand out symbols from the graphics perspective are the throwing star and the ninja. The ninja starts off with just a face view, though when you win with this an animation of a full ninja jumping at you with the full moon behind appears. Sounds are a bit of a mix, with the standard bleeps from Novomatic interspersed with Asian sounding bleeps when you hit wins.

There are more win-lines in play than on most Novomatic games, with 25 crossing from left to right. Unusually, all of the regular symbols pay from just 2 of a kind (not the playing cards). With wilds in play and scatters, wins are reasonably frequent in the base game – though most are on the smaller side. You’ll get the offer of a 50/50 gamble after a every win (along with the ticking sound effect). There is also an auto-play option as standard.

Overall Experience

One of the better slots from Novomatic and one which I will certainly return to at some point. The base game is smooth and entertaining – with the slot really coming alive when you trigger the free spins bonus. Not only can you keep on extending your bonus game with more Ninja symbols, there is also the chance of getting a 9x win multiplier.
