Aztec Power Slot from Novomatic
Available In:
USA Regional

Aztec Power is a casino slot that transports you back to the days of middle-age Mexico, when the fierce Aztec warriors ruled the land. On the reels you’ll find an Aztec warrior, an Aztec temple, battle equipment and golden jewelry, which makes for a very rich and colorful game. The highlight feature of the slot is the free games bonus round where you’ll find that certain wins come with large multipliers. The golden wild symbol will boost your winning potential, while a gamble feature gives you the potential to double up after any win.

How to Win on Aztec Power

The highest paying symbol is the Aztec warrior, who looks resplendent in his golden headdress, colorful feathers adorning the top. At 5,000 coins for five in a row, this is the symbol you want to see. The Aztec temple pays 2,000 coins, while a blade and the headdress (on its own this time) both pay 1,500 coins. The standard symbols are completed by the playing cards 10, J, Q, K and A.

A golden pendant is the wild symbol and makes an appearance on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. This will substitute for any other symbol apart from the scatter, enabling some nice additional wins. If you look closely at the pendant you’ll realize that it’s in the shape of a bird, maybe an eagle or a phoenix.

Every time you land a win you can choose to gamble, this the very popular playing card gamble option, where you’ll simply predict the color of the card. Choose correctly and you’ll double up.

Aztec Power Feature Round with the ‘Power Line’

The final symbol you’ll find on the reels is a golden broach, shaped into the character of a god, with many rubies and emeralds encrusted into the gold. This scatter only appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 and should it land on all three of these you’ll enter the free spins bonus round.

You’ll have 20 free spins in total with Aztec Power slots, which is good enough in itself, however you’ll find a major additional bonus in the ‘Power Line’. This ‘Power Line’ is the first win line, which is simply the horizontal line running through the middle row of the reels. This line starts with a 1x multiplier, but every spin where you fail to land a win on this line sees the multiplier increase by 1. Potentially this means that you could find a multiplier of 20x in place by the final spin. If you do manage to win on the power line, the multiplier will be reset to 2x for the next spin and then continue to climb again. Fortunately, any wins on any of the other 24 win lines will not affect the power line, so you could actually win on every spin and still see the 20x multiplier in place. The perfect scenario would see you line up the Aztec Warrior symbols across the middle row with the 20x multiplier in place, giving you an amazing payout of 100,00 coins!

Design and Setup

The Aztec Thunder slot is set against the backdrop of a stormy blue sky, with hills rolling in the distance. The backing to the reels is in the same dark blue, although the combination of symbols gives the reels a very colorful feel, making for a nice contrast to the dark background. The symbols have a modern design and you’ll find some nice animation, particularly when you land a win with the Aztec warrior symbol, as he stands raising his weapons in the air looking up to his God. The accompanying sound is exactly what you’ll find at any number of slots, where a nod to the Aztec theme would have added to the atmosphere more.

Aztec Power is a five reel slot with a total of 25 win lines, the number of lines set. You’ll choose a bet per line which ranges from just 2 credits all the way through to 400. You’ll not find a control panel as such, just a simple spin button with a menu option just above – giving the slot an eye catching minimalist look.

Overall Experience

You wouldn’t place Aztec Power in the ‘outstanding’ category, but there is enough here to keep the enjoyment levels high. The game is solid graphically and some big payouts can head your way during the base game. However, it’s the bonus feature which makes the game. Having a multiplier applied to just one line is a good original idea and makes for a very exciting feature, especially as edge towards your final spins.
