Tales of Krakow Slot

The pretty and tourist-friendly city of Krakow in modern Poland might not be the first idea that pops into your head when coming up with a theme for an online slot. Fortunately, this city comes with its own legends – when 4th century knights tried to force a mighty dragon (whose ‘bones’ are still on display) from a cave beneath the city.

This slot has knights, dragons and other mystic symbols over the reels. The highlight is a free spins bonus game – where all of your wins are tripled. There is also a break out bonus game where you’ll choose from 3 rows of dragon’s eggs – unlocking prizes.

  • How to Win on Tales of Krakow

Wilds in this game are very striking – a red devil face over a full moon. This is the highest paying symbol by a considerable margin, paying 7500 coins for 5 on any of the 30 win lines. You’ll get 2000 for just 4 of these, with 200 for 3 and 5 coins for just 2. Being wild means that this devil will substitute for any of the regular symbols, only the scatter mounted knight is excluded from this. You will often find that the devil triggers several winning combinations at the same time – which is especially welcome in the triple-wins free spins game.

Of the regular symbols, the top spot is shared between a guy blowing a large trumpet and a pair of boots with a white mouse between them. Hitting 5 of either will bring you 500 coins, with 100 for 4 and 50 for 3. Things get mystical, with a green elf or maybe fairy completing the original symbols and worth 250 for 5. Playing card symbols have been designed to fit with the medieval theme and make up the smaller regular wins.

Dragons Eggs and Knight Free Spins

Each of the special features in Tales of Krakow is triggered by different scatter symbols. Green dragons start the bonus game with 3+ on a win-line. This is a second screen bonus where you’ll be invited to pick from 3 rows of eggs. Each will reveal either a part of a dragon (along with a prize in coins) or will be empty, in which case your bonus round ends. If you get to the top row of 2 eggs, then you have a chance of a bigger win.

Free spins are started by the knight, which is a scatter symbol. You’ll also win a multiple of your total spin amount with 2+ of these anywhere on the reels. This is 2x for 2, 4x for 3, 50x your total bet for 4 and a generous 200x for 5. The number of free spins is fixed at 12 no matter how many of the knights you hit for the triggering spin.

The game is the same for the free spins round, the only difference is a little message (in suitably medieval font) at the bottom right reminding you that you have 3x on every win. You can trigger the bonus game during the free spins – though wins there are not tripled.

    Medieval Design

The setting for this slot is excellent, with a dark night showing the silhouettes of mountains behind the reels – along with an amazing looking medieval castle to the right hand side. The reels are framed in an elaborate fold. Symbols are detailed, and have a slightly cartoon-like feel – as if taken from an animated movie. The knight stands out for me, with his white stead and glowing white light behind him. The dragon is also nicely done, looking at you with one evil eye.

As is usual with NetEnt slot games, there is not too much in the way of animations – with small movements within some of the symbols the best you’ll get. There are on-theme noises and winning tunes, though nothing in that area which would make this slot stand out. The graphics of the dragon’s egg bonus game are excellent and certainly worth a look.

Tales of Krakow uses a 30 win-line setup. You can lower this amount if you wish, as well as choosing your preferred coin size and betting level (number of coins per line). There is a feature preview button, which shows you the dragon-egg game – as well as the standard auto-play option.

    Overall Experience

Even without knowing the history of Krakow this is an enjoyable ‘knights and dragons’ type slot. The free spins bonus game is the main draw, with 3x wins throughout. The excellent graphics of the pick game with dragon’s eggs is also worth seeing.
