Pacific Attack from NetEnt
Themed on naval battles of the Pacific Ocean from WW2 – Pacific Attack from Net Entertainment includes a unique bonus game as well as solid game-play. You’ll participate in bombing raid, attempting to sink enemy ships, as well as lining up symbols on the 5 reels.
There is also a fee spins round, triggered by the sweetheart back home, during which all of your wins will be tripled.
There is not much difference in this game for the free spins round. Things do speed up a little. The main attraction is that all wins are 3x what is listed on the pay table during this bonus. You can still trigger the bonus game during free spins – though wins for this are not tripled!
How to Win on Pacific Attack
In the regular real money game there are some generous coin wins available – though keep in mind that all of these will be tripled during the free spins bonus. The single biggest wins come from lining up the dashing aviator wild symbols. You’ll get 5000 coins for 5 of these, 2000 coins for 4, 200 for 3 and 5 coins for just 2. This aviator will also help create many more win with other symbols – as the wild it substitutes for all of the regular symbols (though not the bonus or scatter ones).
A multiple spiked sea mine and parachuting airman share the next highest prizes. 5 of either of these will get you 500 coins, with 100 for 4 and 20 for 3. A cluster of 3 bombs and a cap come next (250 coins for 5). Instead of playing card symbols, this game uses medals for those smaller wins.
There are two more symbols on the reels. The plane and a sepia picture of the girl back home each have a role to play in triggering the 2 different bonus games.
Battleships Bonus and Free Spins Feature
Lining up 3 or more of the bonus symbols starts a unique and entertaining bonus game. You will see a message (as if typed on a card), saying that the first mission is about to begin. Next a group of planes flies over a 3D segment of sea, which has been marked with a grid pattern. They will drop a number of bombs. Most of those bombs will create splash effects on the ocean, though others will hit ships – exploding into flames.
Next you get a choice of 3 aircraft. Your job is to try and sink a ship by dropping more bombs. You have a strategic choice to make. More bombs with lower possible prizes, or fewer bombs with bigger possible prizes. Since the ships are different lengths, bombing next to any flaming segments is a great starting point.
3 or more of the sweetheart scatters will get you between 10 and 30 free spins – as well as a prize as a multiple of your total spin amount. 2 scatters pay double your spin bet, 3 pays 4x your bet (+10 free spins), 4 pay 50x your bet (+20 free spins) and 5 pays a generous 200x your bet and awards 30 free spins.
Overall the design feels crowded, though the elements are all very nicely created individually. The setting sees a blue sky, with fluffy white clouds behind the reels. When you spin you will see each reel has a picture of a plane on it. There are some detailed touches, including an altimeter spinning round at the top of the reels.
When you hit wins you will see some nice animations, including a dog-fight in the wild symbols! There are kisses and a piano tune when the scatter (girl back home) appears. These are complimented by flying sound effects too.
The design really goes up a level during the bombing raid bonus game, which has its own 3D animations. This reminded me of the board game ‘Battleships’.
You can adjust the 15 bet lines on this game, as well as the coin size and the multiplier (betting level). There is the ever-present NetEnt ‘Bet Max’ button available. This multiplies your current coin size by the maximum level of 10. Auto-play can also be used.
This is a solid and entertaining slot based on an unusual (for slots) period. I enjoyed the bombing bonus game, which adds some good interaction. The free spins bonus is really just the base game with tripled wins – though I am sure if you hit some bigger prizes during this you will not mind the lack of exciting graphics or sounds.
