Geisha Wonders Slot from NetEnt

This Asian themed game from Net Entertainments has solid game play and the potential for big wins. While the name and main focus is the famous Geisha ladies from Japan, there are the usual array of Asian slot favorites on the reels.

These include a golden carp, lantern and a lucky waving cat. There is a free spins bonus game, during which all your wins are doubled. You can also win one of two progressive jackpots – which are displayed above the reels while you play.

How to Win on Geisha Wonders

There are opportunities for big wins simply from lining up the symbols – as well as via the jackpots. The biggest of these comes from a stone Buddha statue, which is the wild symbol. Hitting 5 of these on any of the 30 win lines will bring you a generous 10,000 coins, with 2000 for 4, 200 for 3 and 5 coins for just 2 from the left. This wild does not substitute for the special jackpot symbols, or the Geisha scatters.

Of the regular symbols it is the lucky waving cat (a white version, rather than the golden statues) that has the next highest prize. 5 cats are worth 1000 coins. The fish is next at 500 coins for the full set- and is followed by a bonsai tree, traditional tea set ad a fan.

You’ll also find 4 different colored lanterns on the reels. These make up the smaller wins, taking the place of the usual playing cards.

Geisha Wonders Jackpots

At random, some of the regular symbols will appear with golden stars on them. These will help you to win the ‘Mega Wonder Jackpot’ and the ‘Wonder Jackpot’. You need 5 stars on a win-line to hit the bigger of the two prizes, while 4 from the left will get you the smaller one.

Scatter Prizes and Doubled Free Spins

Scatter symbols are the Geisha herself, holding a red parasol with the word ‘scatter’ down the right hand side. You’ll get a prize based on your total spin amount for 2 or more of these. With 3 or more anywhere in view, you will also trigger the free spins bonus. This starts with 10 free spins for 3 – going up to 20 free spins for 4 and 30 for 5.

There is nothing too special about the free spins game, which is the same as the base game only with doubled wins to keep you interested. Scatter symbols still appear – indicating that you can retrigger from within this free spins bonus.

Elegant Oriental Design

Net Entertainment always produce their slots nicely, and this one is no exception. There are cherry blossoms arching over the reels, and a logo which is made from a traditional fan. You will see a Geisha to the left of the reels – though only a picture and not as an avatar hosting the game. The reels are semi translucent, giving you the hint of a garden behind them when you click the spin button.

Each symbol is detailed, yet drawn in pale colors – fitting the overall theme very well. For me the golden carp is the standout symbol, this has bubbles coming from its mouth and a good patchwork of coloring. Adding lanterns with Japanize characters on them instead of the usual playing card symbols is another nice touch.

When you hit wins you’ll get a (short) burst of music. This can be drum or string based. There are some ambient effects too, which sounds like someone dragging some shells around. There are very few animations – with a light effect going around the wild the only thing other than flashing symbols.

Regular 30 Line Setup

This solid slot uses a fixed 30 win lines, and as with most NetEnt games it offers plenty of configurability in terms of your coin size (1c to 50c) and the number of coins you bet per line (level) which is up to 10. You can also use the auto-play option.

Overall Experience

There is no doubt about the production quality of this slot – excellent. The symbols are nicely drawn and the game play is fast and smooth. There is the chance of winning a good sized progressive jackpot, and also the free spins game where your regular wins are doubled. For me there is nothing exceptional about this game that would make it stand out in the crowded Asian slots niche – though if you enjoy this type of game I am sure that this one will also appeal.
