  • How to Win on Lady of the Dead

Stacked symbols and extra wilds mean that your biggest wins on Lady of the Dead will come when you hit multiple combinations over the 40 win-lines. The lady herself is comes in two forms. First a simple head-shot, which is the same size as all the other symbols. Second a 3 symbol tall version which is a beautifully drawn full length symbol which will regularly fill entire reels. Hitting 5 of these on a win line is worth 250 coins, with 100 coins for 4, 40 for 3 and 5 coins for just 2. Note that all of the other symbols will need a minimum of 3 of a kind to trigger a win.

Next in the pay outs come a lot of other symbols closely associated with the day of the dead. These are topped by a candle (175 coins for 5), heart shaped jewel (150), and a basket of fruit (125). Tequila, figurines and a portrait make up the smaller wins at 100 coins for 5.

    Popping Wilds Feature

Wild symbols just say ‘wild’ looking like a small cylinder. These appear on the middle 3 reels only. These appear when you spin, though you will sometimes be randomly awarded extra wilds through a ‘popping wilds’ feature.

What happens is that the fuses of fireworks are lit at the bottom of the reels. These quickly fizz up between the symbols, before exploding and revealing one or more new wild symbols. Wins are then recalculated.

Fiesta Grande Scatters, Free Spins and Progressive Jackpots

3 day of the dead type musicians make up the scatter symbols, which trigger the free spins bonus game. These can appear anywhere on the reels, and do not need to be on a win-line. You will get 8 free spins for 5 scatters, 10 for 6, 12 spins for 7 and the maximum 14 spins for 8.

During the free spins the lady becomes even more frequent on the reels, which should help to generate some more wins. The popping wilds system is still in play.

There is an additional progressive element, which you will see on the upper cabinet. Each time you hit one of the lady of the dead symbols on the reels, the mask will glow and move up and to the right on the upper cabinet. You need to collect 25 of these masks during your free spins to unlock the progressive jackpot bonus. The more spins you got, the easier this task becomes – though it is possible with the minimum number of spins.

The wheel has colored segments and you’ll hit start to spin it once your free spins are over. This will stop on a number and will unlock one of 3 progressive jackpots. While these are not super-high jackpots (they are for individual machines, rather than the big linked progressives), they can still make a nice addition to your bankroll.

Design and Setup of Lady of the Dead

Fireworks play an important role in this game. They appear in the ‘popping wilds’ on reel feature, and will also frequently appear alongside the reels when you hit mid-sized and above wins. What is more the progressive wheel part of the free spins round is ‘powered’ by fireworks around the rim.

The symbols are smart, though the only real stand out one is the lady herself in the stacked 3-high format. Overall this slot is colorful, without being as visually striking as many other ITS games. Lively music with the distinctly Latino flavor will play while you spin.

As with many ITS slots, this game is very easy to play. The 40 win lines are fixed in place meaning you just have to choose your coin size (from 1c and up) and hit the play button.

    Overall Experience

A lively slot with a couple of interesting elements – though not a game which particularly stands out from the crowd. I can see a lot of people enjoying the occasional spin, though it is unlikely that Lady of the Dead will become a go-to machine. The progressive element to the free spins feature is the highlight.
