Fu Ru Huang Di Slot Machine
As the name suggests, this is another Asian themed live casino video slot. The name did not bring up any hits when searching for historical figures – so I will go with the idea that this is the cheerful looking guy that appears on the reels.
This slot is from Incredible Technologies (ITS) and shares the bold colors and lively game play of many of their titles.
There is a new concept in play known as ‘Scatterblast’ wins, which come into play when the symbols on reels 1 and 5 are both stacked (covering all 4 spots on each reel) and matching. There is also a free spins bonus round, during which the symbols on the first reel are always stacked.
2 Ways to Win on Fu Ru Huang Di
Standard wins appear on the 40 pay lines just like on any other slot. These are smaller (relying on multiple wins at once), though often helped by one or more of the wild symbols. The best paying symbol is a happy looking guy with a long thin beard. This is worth 250 coins for 5 on a line, 80 for 4 and 40 for 3. A woman comes next at 150 coins for 5 (all symbols pay from 3+).
You’ll find plenty of the classic Asian slot symbols on the reels – though they are both detailed and colorful in their design. These include the obligatory dragon, turtle and golden carp. Playing card symbols ace down to 10 make up the smaller wins.
Scatterblast wins are a new concept for this slot. These come into play when you get the same symbol on the first and 5th reel covering all 4 spots. When this happens it is whether you have hit any extra matching symbols on the middle reels that will make the difference between a big win and a very big one. You’ll get paid for multiple win-lines, with 80 coins for 5 of the guy, 40 for 5 of the lady and lower amounts for the remaining symbols. Wilds also come into play. When you hit one of these wins, there is a graphic that appears over the reels pointing to either side of the reels to let you know you are receiving a Scatterblast win.
Wild symbols are gold and purple, with coins above, and say ‘wild’ on them. Bonus symbols show a golden urn. These are green with the word ‘Bonus’. You need 3 of these on the middle 3 reels to trigger the 8 free spins bonus game.
Have a (Scatter) Blast with the Fu Ru Huang Di Bonus Game
The main difference in the bonus round is the extra Scatterblast wins. These come in as the first reel is always stacked. The reels are different for this game, and appear more stacked than in the base-game. I should note that there are no wilds on the first reel during the free spins, though these appear as normal everywhere else.
During the free games the final reel will always speed up with the edge around all 4 spots and the sound effect ‘whooo’ noise. This is always welcome if you do match the symbols are trigger multiple scatter wins – this did feel fairly frequent. You can retrigger for 8 more free spins, with the maximum being 100.
Design and Setup
Overall this is a lively looking game, the dual screen cabinet is dominated by red, with a lot of gold too. The pay table on top shows the two types of win, and does look complex (more complex than the actual game, once you understand that the scatter wins are actually quite simple). A lot of care and attention to detail has gone into the design of the symbols, and there are some nice small animations too.
You can play Fu Ru Huang Di for just 40c, which no extra credits required to get access to the extra winning format. The smallest denomination is just 1c per credit at most live casinos.
While this slot does follow the tried and tested formula of taking an Asian theme and adding one unique aspect of game play to it – I still think that Fu Ru Huang Di is a hit rather than a miss from ITS. The base game is solid, which is a pre-requisite! The Scatterblasts is a nice idea which does add a lot of wins when you get matching stacks. Whether this could be even better in the free spins bonus round only, I will leave you to decide for yourself!
