Bitten Slots Machine
Vampire themed slots are a hugely popular niche. Bitten from IGT takes the cartoon approach to this, with some entertaining graphics, choice quotes from the lady vampire, and the chance of some big wins – via multiplier that increases after each free spin. This slot is dated as 2010, which is getting a little older in terms of today’s quick turn over of new games. It manages to maintain some humour, playability and very detailed background graphics – making it stand out in this crowded niche.
The best aspect of the design is the ‘Bitten’ logo over the full moon. There are bats and spooky looking trees on either side of the reels. It is a shame the reels are not transparent (the slot predates this newer trend); instead these have a black background. Symbols include cartoon vampires (complete with spiked teeth animations), a goblet filled with blood (or possibly red wine!), a gothic looking candle holder and a broach. There are also playing card symbols – at least IGT has made an effort to make these look a little spooky.
IGT slots allow you to select the number of win lines as well as the number of bets per line. This game has 20 max, and up to 5 bets per line.
Some of the entries on the payable are in coins, and others are in multipliers of your total bet. The biggest win comes from 5 of the ‘Bitten’ logos anywhere on the reels; this gives you 200 times your total bet. 4 are worth 10 times that bet and 3 gets you 3. You will initiate the free spins bonus feature with 3 or more of these.
The wild symbol simply says ‘Bitten’ this will substitute for all of the regular symbols and will also double the prize for any combination that it is involved in. You will get 250 credits for 5 of these on a line (and payments from just 2).
Broaches are the most valuable of the regular symbols; this is worth 500 coins for 5, down to 2 coins for 2. The candlestick comes next at 400 for 5, followed by the goblet and then the playing card symbols.
Bonus Game for Bitten
Before you get to the main bonus game you will be taken to an intermediary screen with 3 coffins. This is a pick-em game; you simply choose one and reveal the number of free spins for the main game. The numbers in the coffins you did not choose are also shown.
Other than scatter wins and the possibility to retrigger, there is no particularly special behaviour from the symbols on the reels during this bonus. The key factor is that there is an incremental multiplier after each spin. If you get 10 free spins, you will start off with 1x and the final spin will multiply all wins by 10x (for example). This will include those scatter wins, meaning you could get 50x your total spin amount, multiplied 10 or even more. Your remaining spins as well as the spins already taken show at the top of the screen.
Summary for Bitten
This is a solid enough slot, which is entertaining to play despite not quite being up there with the more involved modern games. You’ll find cartoon-like graphics, amusing (if a little cheesy) quotes from the lady vampire (one after each spin in the bonus round), and plenty of multipliers for wins too. The base game is not the most interesting. There are wilds, though no unusual behaviour other than wild symbols doubling wins. All the real action happens in the free spins bonus game. Here the multiplier increases by 1 each time you spin, which makes the game progressively more interesting as you go. Despite the aged look and the cheesy quotes, I think this slot is worth taking for a spin. Check out Bitten by IGT for yourself soon.
