Fire Phoenix Slot Machine from Everi Gaming

This game has all the key elements of a Vegas style slot machine. The base game is reasonably solid, with stacked wilds and the occasional random wilds (added by a Phoenix flying over the reels).

Things heat up for a free spins bonus game, where you’ll see the random wilds more often. There is also a chance of replaying your free spins if you pick the right egg and find a phoenix.

Add to this a simple pick-em game on the reels, and you have all the elements to keep you entertained – without straying too far from the core of what makes slot gaming fun in the first place.

How to Win on the Fire Phoenix Slot

The single biggest win for this game is listed as up to 440,200 credits by Everi – making the 50 credits minimum per spin feel very small. Day to day wins start with the wild symbols, which are double sized on the reels. When you get 5 of these on a win line you’ll receive 1000 credits, with 250 for 4 and 50 for just 3. Having them double stacked also means a bigger chance of making winning combinations with the other symbols – especially when you get several big wilds on the screen at the same time.

What looks like an abstract sun is the next highest paying symbol, this is worth 500 for 5 of a kind. A salamander (300) jewel (240) and what could be 2 eggs (200) make up the other unique regular symbols. There are playing card symbols involved, though these are elaborately decorated compared to most of those you’ll find on slot games.

There are 2 special symbols, these are eggs with the word bonus on them, and a glowing ‘free spin’ sign.

Random Wilds with the Phoenix Fly-By

Now and again after a spin, a phoenix will fly over the reels after a spin is completed. This will drop between 2 and 5 feathers, which float around the screen for a while before coming to rest on the reels. The spots where they land become wilds. Some are regular, while others have a 2x multiplier, which applies to wins that they create.

Fire Up the Fire Phoenix Bonus Games

The first bonus game is a simple pick-an-egg game. This is triggered when you hit 3 of the bonus eggs anywhere on the reels. The screen you see is elaborately designed, with 3 colorful eggs. Your only task is to tap on one of them. You’ll win either a credit prize or access to the main bonus feature – the free spins round.

Free spins can also be triggered by hitting 3+ of the free spin symbols anywhere on the reels. This kicks off a bonus with 6 free spins. You’ll notice that the dividers between the reels are now on fire. The reels are the same as the base game – only without free spins or bonus symbols. The Phoenix will still fly over and release feathers during this bonus game.

At the end of the game you go to the screen with the 3 colorful eggs. This gives you a 1 in 3 chance of hitting a replay for the free spins game – with the other 2 prizes being credit amounts.

Design and Setup of Fire Phoenix

My first impression was of a very plain and simple design – with a lot of playing card symbols over a plain black set of reels. It turned out that things are a little better than this, though overall this slot is on the solid and functional side or the design spectrum. Things pick up when the phoenix flies over the reels. This is not only a good animation, the design and ancient feel of the bird looks authentic too. Those feathers float down slowly enough that you can get frustrated when they just miss that perfect spot! The flames of the free spins round between the reels is also worth seeing. This adds a dynamism to the game which could also be used during the base spins too. The soundtrack is a surprising choice, an upbeat dance type tune.

There are 50 lines for this slot, and you can play up to 250 credits per spin (the minimum is 50 credits at 1c). Everi gives two different figures for the biggest possible single spin win. This is 251,050 in one place, and 440,200 in another. I am sure that either sum would be very welcome for most live casino slot fans!

Overall Experience

A solid Vegas slot with some interesting features and good animations hidden behind a plain base game. I like the feather wilds, which can significantly boost any spin. The free spins retrigger is also a nice addition – though I am unsure whether this really makes up for only having 6 free spins.
