Hand of the Devil Slot Machine
This game shows Bally doing exactly what they do best – creating a solid, attractive and simple slot that is very enjoyable to play. This feels very much like a live casino slot, which is where it started out. You can now enjoy Hand of the Devil online too. Don’t expect anything too elaborate in the game play. There is a free spins game which features sticky wilds (card hands) and sometimes stacked wilds appear on the reels – and that is your lot. What you will get is a very polished game with great graphics, and the occasional voice-over type quote from the Devil himself!
No prizes for guessing that this slot is red. The frame is simple, with a bat flying across the logo at the top and the occasional flaming symbol to tie in with the theme. Symbols are a little retro in concept, though the sharpness of the graphics give away that this is not a legacy slot. You’ll find playing card symbols, suits (which are embellished with flames and bat-wings) and wild symbols which burst into flame. A tune plays while the reels spin, and there are even more flames when you hit a winning combination. As usual with Bally slots, the best graphic effects are saved for the free spins round.
Playing Hand of the Devil
Another standard from Bally slots is that the win lines are not changeable by the player. There are 30 in this game, and you can bet from 1c per line or 30c for a spin. Wins need 3+ symbols starting on the left hand reel. These are relatively small compared to other slots. This is made up for by the wilds, which often cover more than one reel – creating multiple wins at the same time. If you hit 5 of a kind the Devil (with his British accent) will congratulate you, and you’ll get a fiery animation too.
The best paying symbols are the 4 card suits. These pay 5x your stake for 5 of a kind, the playing card symbols make up all of the smaller wins which keep your bankroll ticking over while you wait for the bonus game.
In addition to the wild symbols there are ‘Hand of the Devil’ logos on the reels. 3 of these will trigger the free spins bonus game. This symbol also triggers a scatter prize with 2+ anywhere on the reels.
Bonus Game for Hand of the Devil
Hitting 3 of the scatters triggers a great looking flaming animation around the edges of the reels. You will be taken to an intermediate screen where you will see 5 different poker hands (straight, flush, full house and so on) laid out in an arc. Each of these has a multiplier next to it, from 1x to 5x. The devil announces that he will select your locking wild, and then an arrow moves erratically over the top of the hands until it comes to rest on one of them. This shows the type of hand, before taking you to the free spins reels.
These are the same as the main reels, except the wilds are replaced with your poker hand. There is a counter over the top of the reels, along with a running count of your total win. Any wilds which land during your 10 free spins are locked into place. This means you can end the round with complete reels of wilds, and maybe others too – making those last few free spins very profitable.
After you finish you will see your total wins, then the screen is covered in flames and you return to the main game.
Summary for Hand of the Devil
Simple and very effective would summarize this slot. I would rate this as excellent for those players who enjoy live slots gaming and would like to recreate that experience online. This is a beautifully produced slot which keeps the focus on the key thing – that famous Bally game-play.
