Wild Inferno Slot by Aristocrat

Available In:

My first thought for this game was that it would be an updated take on the ever-popular Wicked Winnings. It turned out that the only real link between then is the devil symbols – these are completely different games. Fortunately, Wild Inferno is just as enjoyable!

This is a 5-reel video slot with the characteristic solid Aristocrat game play.

When you hit the free spins game, things really come to life. Here you collect wild symbols to swap regular symbols for wilds. If you are lucky enough to have a lot of free spins, you could find stacked wilds on the reels once you collect enough wilds.

How Wild Inferno Works – The Base Game

This game is played over 40 lines, with a minimum of 1c per line (40c) per spin. The grid is a standard 5 reel by 3 row setup. Unique symbols are all demonic in nature – and none more so than the head of the devil himself. This looks cartoon-like and somewhat cheeky, rather than fearsome – he will wink at you from the reels when involved in a win.

Other unique symbols include a heart with horns and a tail, and some dice. There is also a purple bucket which appears to be full of gold coins. In addition to these unique symbols, you’ll find the standard Aristocrat playing card symbols; aces down to nines.

Wilds are represented by flaming symbols with the word ‘wild’ on them. As usual these will substitute for the regular symbols, though not the scatters which are used to trigger the bonus game. Wilds do come stacked on the reels, which can help you trigger some multi-line wins at times.

Red shields with the trident of the devil are used for the scatter symbols. 3 or more of these will trigger the free spins bonus round.

Collecting Wilds in the Free Spins Bonus Game

The base game is fairly standard, though once you trigger the free spins bonus, things get more interesting! On the top part of the cabinet, you will see a count of the number of wilds you hit during your bonus games. Once you hit 50 of these, you get some extra wilds.

What happens is that a picks game appears, with 9 gift boxes floating in the middle of the screen. You tap these, either showing one of the purple buckets or one of the symbols from the main game. If you pick a symbol, this will then be replaced by wilds. Your biggest wins from this game will come those times you get several symbols replaced by wilds. You will see them stacked on the reels when you spin, and you have the potential to cover several reels with them at the same time.

This bonus game gets better and better – since the more extra wilds that you get, the faster you reach the totals to get the next pick from the gift boxes.

Design of the Wild Inferno Slot

Compared to some of the older Aristocrat casino slots, the graphics and animations on Wild Inferno are excellent. The upper part of the cabinet is dominated by the slightly cartoon-like demon guy, and as you’d expect the general theme is red and fiery.

There is a lot of contrast when it comes to the symbols. The (bonus symbol) shields have a glass effect, and are outsized compared to the regular symbols. Most of the other symbols are regular sized, with small and very smooth animations when they are involved in wins. The stand out symbols are the flaming wilds – even though having the word ‘wild’ on each one does take away from the overall effect a little.

When you get to the free spins bonus round, things get more lively. There are extra animations where the wilds move upwards to the top of the cabinet. There is nothing particularly impressive with the pick game – though this is smoothly and professionally produced.

This would not be a complete Aristocrat slot without the clicking sounds, electronic ‘tunes’ for the different sizes of wins – and the coin fountain effects when you hit a bigger win.

Summary – Is Wild Inferno Worth a Spin?

If you enjoyed Wicked Winnings, then you’ll love Wild Inferno. The base game is pure Aristocrat, with wilds and stacked symbols giving you a shot at some bigger line wins. As with many casino slots from this maker, things really spring to life when you get to the free spins bonus game. With 2 or 3 symbols swapped out for extra wilds, you really could see some huge wins coming your way. If the game play sounds interesting, and you would prefer this with a lighter theme – then Wild Wings from Aristocrat uses the same setup, with a love based theme.
