The Zombies Slot from Amaya

This colourful 50 live video slot takes a unique angle in covering the zombie theme. The central characters are a family of 4 which look just like a regular family – other than their green skin. There are 3D avatars in front of the reels, a very lively dance party free spins game and a bonus game where you will have to throw random objects at zombies. You will also get a choice of whether you want payouts big and infrequent, or smaller and more regular.

How to Win on The Zombies Slot

There are two versions of this game, and two spin buttons. On the left hand side is the ‘Power Game’ button. When you click this you will see a male zombie with a baseball bat on the left of the reels and a male child with a skateboard on the right. The spins here will produce fewer wins on average, though when you do win the prizes will be larger.

On the right where you would normally expect a spin button to be is the pink ‘easy game’ button. The costs per spin are the same, only this one awards wins from the left to the right of the reels. When you play this game the zombies change to a woman and female child and wins come much more frequently – though tend to be on the smaller side.

Whichever game you choose the pay table is the same. This is topped by the male and female zombies, which are worth 500 coins for 2, 250 for 4, 75 for 3 and 10 coins for just 2. Next come 2 different types of trash can (one upright, one spilled) at 400 coins for 5, followed by some flowers at 250 coins. There are also 2 versions of a newspaper, mailbox and child zombie. Which versions you see depend on which of the games you choose to play.

There are two more symbols to look out for. First is the picture of the entire featured Zombie family, 3+ of these will trigger the free spins bonus game. Second is a bad zombie, which will trigger the 2nd screen bonus game when it lands adjacent to either the man or the woman zombie symbol.

The Zombies Slot Bonus Game

This slot is already lively, with a pop / dance type tune playing while you spin. When you line up 3 of the family group symbols, things get even more intensive – with a party track playing and lights with mirror balls around the edges of the reels. You will now see dancing zombies as your hosts.

You get 10 free spins of whichever version of the game you were playing when you triggered it to start off with. If you hit more of the party symbols then you will get 2 more spins added each time, there are more of these symbols on the reels during the free spins bonus. The second screen bonus game can also be triggered during this feature.

There is a small element of strategy involved in the break out bonus game. You see a graveyard and a selection of ‘weapons’ to kill the zombies that appear in it. You choose 3 weapons, one of these will kill all the zombies, one 3, one 2 and one (the rubber duck) just 1 of the possible 6 zombies. Each has a different prize awarded. If you play and do not kill the zombie then you lose your prize. If you hit the 50x win (for the duck), then it makes sense to play it safe for the rest of the round to keep this.

Design and Setup

Overall the design is colorful and lively, and is set in the garden of a very average suburban home. The 3D avatars by the sides of the reels are excellent, and will react to your wins and spins. When you switch between the easy and the power spins you will see different zombies. Wins are frequent and so you’ll get plenty of animations on the reels. These range from simple bigger / smaller animations to the ‘dad’ hitting a wild zombie with his baseball bat!

Audio is dominated by the dance soundtrack. There are some zombie type noises too, though these take a back seat to elaborate computer noises for the wins. Things really do liven up in the free spins bonus game, with a real party track playing and amusing dancing zombies.

The setup is a 5 reel,4  row slot game with 50 fixed win lines. You can adjust your coin size from 1c upwards, with a max bet of $250 per spin possible. Surprisingly there is not an auto-play option for this game.

Overall Experience

This is one Amaya slot which is very easy to recommend. It has all the elements of a great slot game with a lively theme, humor and enough bonus games to keep you engaged too. I enjoyed the choice of easy and power spins – though the right to left wins are confusing at first. The second screen bonus game is very entertaining too. Check out The Zombies for yourself soon!
