Wonder Woman Slot Machine
This slot is based on the DC Comics Wonder Woman character, and is not tied in with recent movies. There is a similar Wonder Woman slot without a jackpot which has 50 win-lines and several bonus features. This review focuses on the original 9 line video slot with a progressive jackpot. If you enjoy the superhero slot titles, there are several more from Amaya which are based on DC Comics characters. These include Batman, Superman and The Green Lantern.
How to Win on Wonder Woman Jackpots
Jackpots are randomly triggered. There are 3 prizes in total, a 5-figure ‘Mega Hero’ prize, a 4 figure ‘Super Hero’ prize and a smaller ‘Hero’ prize. Increasing your stake does proportionally increase your chances of winning the jackpot amount – though it is possible to win the big prize even with a minimum spin.
Regular wins are topped by the wild Wonder Woman symbol – which is worth 4000 coins for hitting 5 in a row. This symbol pays all the way down to 1 of a kind (in the left hand reel), and is worth 750 coins for 4, 150 for 3, 8 for 2 and 2 coins for just 1. This slot can be played for just 9 coins, which makes some of these wins large in proportion to your stake.
Other characters from the comic strip come next, with an evil robot with a sword next at 1000 coins for 5 (pays down to 2) and then a woman in green at 500 coins. A castle and a futuristic drawing of a plane are the last unique symbols – clocking in at 250 coins for 5. While playing card symbols are in use, each of them has at least been decorated with something from the comic, for example a shield or a sword.
Scatter symbols play an important role in this game – providing the potential for some big wins as well as triggering the free spins bonus game if you get 3+ on the reels. The top prize for 5 anywhere on the reels is 100x your total bet, with 20x for 4, 5x for 3 and 1x for just 2.
Wonder Woman Jackpots Free Spins Game
When you hit 3 or more of the logo scatter symbols the screen will fill from the top and bottom with the blue and red stripes of the Wonder Woman franchise. You will then hear a lively movie-type tune playing, with some piano work in it! The game is essentially the same as the base game, with the major difference being that you get 3x on any win for the duration of the 10 free spins. You can retrigger for more spins by hitting 3+ of the logos during play.
Design and Setup of Wonder Woman Jackpots
This slot does feel a little retro. Some elements of this are deliberate (recreating that comic book look and feel), while others are just a sign that this game must be at least 10 years old by now. Sound the reels you will see a city view, looking at the top of skyscrapers with a pink sky behind. The reels are white and the symbols colorful. The artwork is nowhere near recent standards, though the designs are nicely done. Wonder Woman will animate if you hit a win with her, though this is a quick and jerky forward movement – again a sign of old age for this game!
Other than during the free spins round, there are no audio clues to the theme at all. There is the hum / whirr of the reels and different beeps and thuds for when different symbols or wins are formed. While the ‘song’ in the free spins game does bring this game to life a little, it is really generic enough to have been used in any ‘action’ slot.
9 win lines is the maximum and the default, though you can lower this if you wish. The minimum coin size is 5c, making the smallest spin 45c and the largest $45. The ‘bet max’ button sits to the right of the spin button, with the auto-play option to the right of them both.
While there are certainly better superhero slots around these days, there are still a couple of reasons why you might want to check out this one. The randomly awarded jackpot is a good start, especially as this can be won with the minimum spin costs. Having 3x multipliers for the free spins game is also a reason to try – though I did have to wait a very long time for this to trigger!
