Viva Venezia Slot from Amaya
This is not the only online slot in the Amaya portfolio which covers the Italian city of Venice. When you play Viva Venezia, instead of the other title Venetian Rose, you’ll find yourself moved forward a couple of centuries in time. This game brings Venice into the 19th or early 20th century – rather than the classical 17th century via of Venetian Rose.
There are 5 reels and many colorful symbols. In addition to wilds and scatters there is a free spins bonus game which can result in some bigger wins – thanks to a multiplier that you select in a pre-game screen.
How to Win on Viva Venezia
During regular play, wild symbols have a multiplier effect on any regular wins they form a part of. This means any win with a wild is 2x what you see listed below. The wilds (which are a logo symbol) are also the single highest paying symbol – worth 5000 coins for 5 on one of the 20 win lines. 4 will get you 1000 coins, with 100 coins for 3 and 15 coins for 2.
Regular symbols include the familiar images from Venice. These are a lady in an elaborate red mask (worth 300 coins for 5 and paying down to 2 of a kind), the tip of a Gondola approaching a bridge (250), a hat with a red ribbon (also 250) and bell (200). There are colorful playing card symbols making up the rest – though these have not been redecorated to fit in with the Venetian theme.
Scatter symbols are worth hitting in this game. These pay based on the total number anywhere on the reels, and can win you up to 200x your total bet if you hit 5 at a time. 4 are worth 15x that bet, with 2x for 3 and your spin cost back for just 2.
Viva Venezia Bonus Game
There is only one remaining symbol on the reels, a sunset view of Venice from across the lagoon. This is the bonus symbol, and 3 or more of them will take you to the free spins game.
There are two parts to this game, first you get to pick a box and then click a button revealed behind a painting to reveal the number of free spins you get (up to 7) and the multiplier for those wins (up to 6x). Next you go back to the reels and enjoy your spins. The game is the same for the free spins bonus, though wins get announced by a display in the middle of the screen each time, and there is a different plucked guitar tune playing while the bonus game is ongoing.
Design and Setup of Viva Venezia
Around the reels you will see the tip of a gondola on a canal about to go under the famous bridge of sighs. Each symbol is in a distinct square, with a gold edge around it and black space between them, giving a blocky look to the game. The graphics are nicely drawn, though it is obvious that these drawings were not created with modern design tools – giving the slot a somewhat dated look and feel.
This game will show you the active win lines when you hit the spin button, and will also display the coin win for each line on the reels. Sounds, at least in the base game, are very much the classic slot whirrs and beeps. These are not unpleasant, though they do not particularly match the theme. At least you’ll hear some guitar music in the bonus game! There are no animations on the reels, the classic flashing lines and boxes take their place.
The 20 win lines are not changeable on Viva Venezia. You do get the option of spinning for up to 10 coins per spin, and have a wide range of coin sizes available too. The smallest spin is just 1c per line, making this slot accessible to all. As usual for Amaya slot games, both a bet max and an auto-spin are made available.
Viva Venezia will not set anyone’s world alight. This is a solid and colorful slot, which plays smoothly enough. With only the single free spins bonus round (plus usual wilds / scatters), there is not too much to keep you engaged. If you enjoy historical slots, then why not take this game for a spin?
