Silent Screen Slot Machine from Amaya
This 25 win line online video slot takes you back to the 1920’s. The topic is the movies of the time, and the symbols are a mix of smart art-deco type designs and the paraphernalia associated with the big screen before sound came along. This is a solid slot, with only a single feature (in addition to the usual wilds and scatters). Fortunately this feature involves free games with a 3x multiplier on your wins – taking the already high wins even higher.
How to Win on Silent Screen
Before I get to the regular wins, this slot does include the ‘Movie Mayhem Jackpots’, which are shared with other slots in the Amaya range. There are 4 of these prizes, ranging from double digits to a 5 figure sum. Jackpots are triggered at random (with a higher chance of triggering if your stake is bigger). You are taken to a separate screen and pick 6 items from a movie theatre, your picks determine which jackpot you will win.
Back to the regular wins, the leading lady is the symbol you will want to see the most of. This is worth 5000 coins for 5 of a kind, 2000 for 4 (200 for 3 and 10 for just 2). On top of having the biggest single prize, this symbol is the wild. More wins are created with this by substituting for other regular symbols. This applies to all symbols except for the camera, which is the scatter / bonus symbol.
The leading man is worth 1500 coins for 5 and also pays down to 2 of a kind from the left. Next comes the director (complete with megaphone), at 1000 coins. A classic car (500) and clapper board (also 500) follow – with very smart art-deco playing cards making up the smaller wins.
In addition to triggering the real money bonus feature, the elaborate camera is a scatter symbol. You will win prizes based on your total stake for the spin based on the total number anywhere in view. With 5 of these on the reels you will win 200 times your stake for that spin, 4 are worth 20 times that stake (5x for 3 and 1x for just 2).
Silent Screen Free Spins Bonus Game
Landing 3 or more of the scatter symbols kicks of a very generous free spins bonus game. Lights point towards the sky from either side of the reels, and crazy piano music starts to play (just like on the original silent movies). You get 15 free spins, and if you get 3 or more of the scatter symbols then 15 more spins get added on top. The best thing about this bonus round is the multiplier. All wins are multiplied by 3 – taking the top prize per spin to a generous 15,000 coins.
Design and Setup
The designers have done a great job of giving this slot a 1920’s look. The outside of the reels is very nicely done, with angled gold columns. While the background to the symbols is a plain white on the reels, this does help to highlight the subtle coloring and nice lighting effects of the symbols. The camera is a real stand out, looking very detailed in black and gold. There are animations when you hit wins, again the camera is one of the best – though the leading lady is also worth looking out for there.
Many of the sounds are from the standard slot sound library of Amaya. These include a mechanical grinding noise when you spin the reels, plus computer generated ‘tunes’ for wins. Things definitely liven up when you hit the free spins bonus game, with a very lively piano based soundtrack.
The setup of this slot is a very standard video slot configuration. There are 25 win-lines across a 5 reel and 3 row grid. You can adjust the number of lines, and bet from just 1c per line. To the right of the green ‘spin’ button you will find a ‘bet max’ will defaults back to the full 25 win lines at your current coin size. There is also a configurable auto play option.
I can see this slot having its fans. The game play is solid, this is a traditional 5 reel slot rather than one with multiple bonus games. It is the design which really stands out, the overall look is excellent and the art-deco theme works well in the slot format. The free spins game is the highlight, 15 free spins is a good starting point – especially with that 3x multiplier.
