Gulliver’s Travels Casino Game
This slot is a beautifully designed 50 line game from Amaya which is based on the famous story by Jonathan Swift. The main character, Gulliver, travels to strange lands – including Lilliput where he is a giant compared to the local population. You will find many iconic symbols from the book on the reels – including the one where the giant Gulliver is tied to the beach by the tiny residents.
In addition to looking good, this slot has some entertaining features, including a unique one where winning combinations ‘flip’ revealing new symbols (and possibly more wins). There is also a ‘mega lines’ feature, which involves respins until you win – and also a free spins game with an armada as a pre-round to decide how many spins you get.
How to Win on Gulliver’s Travels
That famous ‘tied to the beach’ symbol has the biggest prize in this game. This gets you 10,000 coins for 5 if you play the maximum 125 credits per line. This slot does not use the traditional win-lines, instead employing the 243 ways setup. This means one of these symbols anywhere on each of the 5 reels will pay the top prize. You will get 5000 for 4 from the left,2500 for 3. The side portrait of Gulliver is next, this is worth 3750 for 5, 1250 for 4 and 750 for 3. The castle, book and barrel with grapes make up the other original symbols.
Playing card symbols are used on this slot. These are made to look like mechanical contraptions involving ropes and pulleys – and have the usual slot role of making up the smaller wins.
Gulliver’s Travels Slot Bonus Features
Mega-lines is an on-reel bonus, and is started when you hit one of the special symbols (they just say ‘mega lines’) on reels 1 and / or 5. What happens is that the mega lines symbol becomes wild, and you get respins until you hit a win. With one of the symbols you get 40 lines to hit your win, though if you get both then all 243 winning combinations come into play.
When you do hit a win, the symbols turn over on the reels to show new ones. It is possible that you will hit another win like this, especially when a lot of symbols were involved first time around.
The other bonus round involves a second screen portion, before you go back to the reels for respins with multipliers. You go to a scene where you will see 3 rows of old style sailing ships lined up against a beach. Underneath this is a scoring chart. Each time you click a ship, there is an exploding sound and a number of free spins plus multiplier is revealed. This ranges from 5 spins to 20 spins with a 3x multiplier. You then start the spins, with your winning total accumulating under the reels. There is a nicely designed book view which announces the start of the game and shows the total that you won at the end.
Design and Setup
As I said in the intro, the design is really a step up for Amaya, with very detailed graphics and very smooth overall game play. The backs of the reels are wooden planks and there is a wooden structure (with a town in the background) which appears to be encasing all of the reels. A lot of attention to detail has gone into the symbols, which have subtle animations when you do hit wins with them. The playing cards are usually the ‘filler’ symbols on slots, here they are really nicely drawn and worth checking out!
Sounds involve a mechanical rattle when you spin the reels, along with creaks (when winning symbols flip) and even ships cannons. The free spins game does have a nicely drawn setting, though this is not hugely interactive.
Unusually this slot uses a mix of the 243 ‘all ways’ setup and win-lines. The 40 win lines kick in for the mega lines on-reel feature, though this does disappear again after a win. All-ways makes things easy as far as tracking wins are concerned. As long as you have matching symbols on consecutive reels from the left you cannot ‘miss’ a win line.
I would rate this as a must see from the Amaya slots range. The graphics really do make this slot stand out – brining the story of Gulliver to life without being too over the top about it. The mega lines does bring extra wins, though this is not the biggest or best on-reel feature. If you are lucky enough to get the maximum 20 free spins with a 3x multiplier, then the free spins game could be very profitable indeed.
