Scientific Games to Supply Lottery Gaming to Kazakhstan
Scientific Games has a deal with the government of Kazakhstan to be its exclusive supplier of lottery games. Scientific Games, which prints the majority of lottery tickets in the United States, will provide technology and services to over 3,000 retail outlets in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan, a land-locked country in the Central Asia which was a part of the former Soviet Union, is the 9th-largest country in the world. It is Central Asia’s economic powerhouse, generating about 60% of the GDP of the region.
Scientific Games Corporation announced a 15-year contract to provide the Republic of Kazakhstan instant scratch card games, Keno, and lottery draws. JSC Satty Zhuldyz, a domestic Kazakhstani company, is set to organize the games on the ground level.

Alexandr Ten, the president of JSC Satty Zhuldyz, said his company was proud to work with Scientific Games, one of the leaders in worldwide lottery sales. Scientific Games provides lottery technology and services to over 150 lotteries worldwide. That list includes most of the lottery games in North America, including the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery associations.

Thus, the Republic of Kazakhstan immediately joins the list of country with first-rate lottery games. Neither Kazakhstani or American lottery executives estimated the amount of money lotto games are expected to generate. They also have not released estimates on the size of the jackpots on the Kazakhstani national lottery drawings (draws in certain countries).

Ten noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan wants to generate revenue to support the Kazakhstan Ministry of Sports & Culture, which funds youth sports and the Kazakstan Olympic team. He said the people of Kazakhstan will get the entertainment value of a world-class set of lottery games.
Kazakhstan has sent athletes to compete in the Olympics every year since 1994. Kazakhstani athletes have won 62 medals at the Summer Olympics and 7 medals at the Winter Olympics since that time. The country’s athletes have done best in events like boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, cycling, judo, and Modern Pentathlon.

Among the notable Kazakhstani athletes who competed in the Olympics is Gennady Golovkin (“GGG”), who won a Silver medal as a middleweight at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. Gennady Golovkin is the current reigning unified Middleweight Champion and is ranked the No. 1 boxer in the world, pound-for-pound, by Ring Magazine. In the Winter Olympics, Kazakhstani athletes have done best in cross-country skiiing, Biathlon, freestyle skiing, and speed skating. Prior to 1994, Kazakhstani athletes were a part of the Soviet Union’s Olympic teams.
