Months after the death of a 26-year-old French UBEReats cyclist, Warwick Mirzikinian, an Australian car stereo and mobile phone businessman and poker player, was charged with the cyclist’s death. The tragic accident occurred in Sydney, where Mirzikinian lives.

Julien Trameaux, a French national, died November of last year when he was struck by a car while riding his bike at Double Bay. Warwick Mirzikinian, a well-known millionaire poker player, has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death. New South Wales police have confirmed the verdict this week.

This is sadly the fifth fatality of a cyclist on New South Wales Roads in 2017 along with 51 pedestrian deaths, a NSW Transport said.

Julien Trameaux: The Slain Cyclist

Julien Trameaux was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic crash at New South Head Road. He had worked part-time as an UBEREats delivery cyclist at night after finishing his full-time job during the day as a labourer at Pimas Gale Construction. His site Manager, Matt Bell, spoke of him being “a legend of a person.”

Friends of Trameaux described him as hardworking, optimistic and positive, saying that Trameaux had dreamed of opening a patisserie in Sydney. Trameaux’s roommate, Leo Villaume, told eastern suburbs newspaper The Wentworth Courier, “He (Trameaux) was more than a friend. We were all a family and he was a brother. He was someone so determined.”

Trameaux’s friends and roommates also said that he lived his life by a quote from the Apple founder Steve Jobs: “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

According to the news outlet, The Australian, “The friends had competed in their first Sydney marathon in September 2017 to help raise funds for a school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.”

Warwick Mirzikinian Profile

Mirzikinian, 49, lives in Australia’s most expensive residential suburb close to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. The famed poker professional, who also happens to be a Point Piper businessman, was driving his Tesla electric car when the collision occurred on November 13 a little after 6pm.

On Sunday, Mirzikinian appeared at the Rose Bay police station, where he was issued with a notice to appear on April 18 in front of a Downing Centre Local Court magistrate.

Mirzikinian is a notable Australian poker player, who has earned millions competing in the Asia-Pacific, European, and American poker tours, as well as numerous high roller events. The Aussie gambler had been involved in the industry for almost 10 years and has accumulated nearly AUD$1million in live tournament winnings.

WSOP Tournament Showings

Warwick Mirzikinian has played in 9 World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments, with his best cashing out in 3rd place in a $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em event in 2012, earning $162,443. Mirzikinian had seen the most success in 2017. He won a total of four tournaments last year, which included back-to-back victories at Sydney Championships. He first won the $1k 6max NLHE for $61,073 and just three days later he struck victory again in the $20k NL High Roller cashing out with $197,385.

2017 Aussie Millions

Just a little less than a month ago he made his last recorded cash in at a $1k event at the Aussie Millions for $2,941. Mirzikinian has collected nearly $100,000 in total for this year alone at events at Star Sydney.

Mirzikinian: Mobile Phone Entrepreneur

Mirzikinian is also a mobile phone entrepreneur and a former director of the car stereo company, Strathfield. Mirzikinian and his wife, Kristy, live in a lavish four-bedroom home.

Kristy Mirzikinian made headlines last year when a sinkhole roughly the size of a backyard swimming pool opened up near their Point Piper home. Their homes power was cut, along with her personal training session causing her to truly show where her concerns and priorities stood.

Kristy Mirzikinian said, while gripping her Mercedes-Benz umbrella, “My personal trainer has come, my electricity is off, and now I don’t know what to do.”
