Phil Ivey Says Online Poker and Gambling Safer Than Live
In the poker world, when Phil Ivey speaks, people listen. That’s why it was a big deal when Poker King recently released a couple of interview videos featuring Ivey and fellow Poker Hall of Famer Barry Greenstein. The two discussed various aspects of Ivey’s career and even discussed online gambling and online poker.
During the interview, Ivey revealed his thoughts on a couple of hot topics in the gambling community lately. First, he feels that online poker is a lot safer than traditional live casino poker. He also believes that there is a lot less cheating going on online than in the live game.
Barry Greenstein Interviews Phil Ivey
In case you didn’t already know, 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey is an ambassador for Poker King. The site recently posted a pair of interview videos conducted by legendary poker player and Hall of Famer Barry Greenstein.
The pair discussed poker, Ivey’s rise in the game, and looked forward to the future. Greenstein’s interview style is a bit different as he has been around the block a time or two, and Ivey even had to remind Greenstein that the interview was not about him.
A lot of the first clip released by Poker King talks about Ivey’s mental focus and how he has been more focused on mental health in recent years. Growing up, Ivey admits that his main focus was winning money in poker and having fun. He didn’t focus much on the mental aspect of the game, at least as it pertains to mental health.
That’s changed over the last couple of years. Ivey revealed that he spends a lot more time on mental health now, using a combination of prayer, meditation, and yoga to help him improve his mental health. Greenstein asked about whether Phil’s mental processing speed had decreased, claiming that it is inevitable. Ivey counterargued that his mental focus and concentration is greater now than it has ever been. It seems that something is working for him.
Ivey Thinks Online Poker is Safer
The second clip in the interview discusses Ivey’s rise in the game of poker, along with his involvement with Poker King. On that subject, Greenstein asks Ivey about his thoughts on whether online poker is safe. Ivey contends that online poker is much safer than playing in a live casino. Ivey points to a couple of instances where he has been robbed as one thing you have to watch for in live casinos.
Ivey is correct. When you play at the best online casinos, you don’t have to worry about safety as you’re in your own home or other secure location. Often, you will see unsavory characters floating around the blackjack pits or slot machines waiting to approach people. When you play online slots or blackjack online, you don’t have to worry about being approached by others.
The conversation then shifted to online poker security. He asked about cheating in online poker. Ivey feels that online poker is much safer and secure and said that he’s been cheated multiple times in live poker. For online poker, there are security measures in place to detect cheating and unusual play. He said that he’s discussed security many times with Poker King and feels confident that their security is among the best in the industry.
While some will argue that Ivey will say these things because he is an ambassador with the site, one has to consider the amount of money that Ivey has won online in the past. At one point, he had won more money online than anyone in the world. If he felt online poker was rigged, he would not continue playing.
