Online Casino Gambling Live in Pennsylvania
Online casino gambling has FINALLY launched in Pennsylvania. Online gambling legislation was passed a year and a half ago and it took until last week before games finally launched in Pennsylvania. At present, just three online casinos are available in the state but online poker has yet to launch.
Hollywood Casino, Parx Casino, and SugarHouse Casino are all available online in Pennsylvania with a selection of online slots, video poker, and table games available.
Hollywood Casino First to Go Live
Leading up to the July 15 launch date, it appeared that Parx Casino would be the first to launch. However, Hollywood Casino decided to launch at 11 am on July 15th, making them the first legal online casino to launch in Pennsylvania.
The casino is accessible via PC, Mac, and Android at this time. Android users will have to download an app from Google Play. An iOS version is presently unavailable but you can download the GeoGuard Location Validator to gain access to the browser version of the website on your iOS device.
Gaming selection is somewhat limited at this time with just 40 online slot titles, baccarat, and nine variants of video poker. Table poker games, blackjack, roulette, and other table games are not available at this time.
Parx Casino Second to Launch
Parx Casino launched at 3 pm on July 15 and is available on the same platform as Hollywood Casino. However, it offers a much more robust online casino offering. They have 191 slot games available as well as a wide selection of table games, including blackjack, roulette, and even Live Dealer Games.
Early reviews reveal that pay tables on video poker are better than Hollywood Casino. In addition, Parx offers tournaments at their site, something that’s missing at the other two.
SugarHouse Casino Rollout Limited to Slots Only
The third and final online casino to roll out last week was SugarHouse Casino. They are the only casino that already has operations in the U.S. Presently, SugarHouse has an online casino operating in New Jersey, so they have a leg up over the other two in terms of experience.
Surprisingly, the initial offering from SugarHouse Casino in Pennsylvania was somewhat disappointing. Presently, they only offer a small library of 22 slot games. The only positive spin we can give on this is that all games are form NetEnt and include popular online slot titles such as Starburst and Pyramid.
While their offering is small, it is still historic as they are the only online casino to serve both PA and New Jersey. Hopefully they will expand their offerings soon to compete with other online casinos in the state.
Online Poker is Not Available – Yet
If you’re a fan of online poker, you will have to wait as last week’s launch was limited to online casinos only. We do not have a date on when online poker will launch in the state, but reports have it listed as “soon.”
The major players in the state will be PokerStars who is partnered with Mount Airy Casino and Caesars. Caesars will offer WSOP.com and depending on the outcome of legal challenges surrounding the Federal Wire Act, may become part of the interstate online poker network with New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware. Rush Street Interactive, partypoker, IGT, and GAN are the other brands currently partnered with PA casinos.
Who Can Play at PA Online Casinos?
PA online casinos will operate the same as other states offering online casinos gambling. You must be 21 and physically located in Pennsylvania to play. You don’t have to be a resident, but your computer or device must be detectable via Wi-Fi. Also, VPN access will be blocked so those outside of the state will not be able to play.
Ten out of 13 state casinos applied for online casino licenses, but it is unclear how many will actually launch. We will keep you updated on any future developments regarding online casino gambling and online poker in Pennsylvania.
