How to Play Casino Hold’em
If you love to play Texas Hold’em poker, then you might enjoy Casino Hold’em. Casino Hold’em is a poker table game at many online casinos. If you already know how to play Texas Hold’em, then you’ll catch onto this game almost immediately.
For everyone else, today we will teach you the basics of how to play Casino Hold’em and give you some basic strategy to help you win more from the start.
Rules For Casino Hold’em
Casino Hold’em is played similarly to Texas Hold’em poker except for that you’re playing against the dealer rather than an opponent. The rules for making poker hands are exactly the same as standard Hold’em, so if you already know the basic of making poker hands, you’re already halfway there.
A game of Casino Hold’em starts by placing an ante bet on the Ante circle on the table. You can also make an AA side bet. This is a bet on whether you will have a pair of aces or better on the flop. Once you’ve placed your bet, you will be dealt two cards face up and the dealer will receive two cards face down. Next, the first three community cards known as the flop are dealt.
At this point, you’ll decide whether to play the hand or fold. If you want to continue playing your hand, you must place a Call bet. The Call bet is double the ante. If you do not wish to continue, you can fold. This will end the hand immediately.
When you make the Call bet, the hand will be dealt out to the river and you will go to showdown. If your hand beats the dealer’s hand, you win the ante bet and are paid out based on the table below:
Ante Bet Paytable
- Royal Flush – 100 to 1
- Straight Flush – 20 to 1
- 4 of a Kind – 10 to 1
- Full House – 3 to 1
- Flush – 2 to 1
- Straight and Below – 1 to 1
To win the Call bet, the dealer’s hand must qualify with a pair of fours or better. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, your Call bet pushes. When you win, the Call bet pay 1 to 1.
Note that if you play the AA side bet and make a pair of aces or better on the flop, you will be paid immediately on the flop based on the following paytable:
AA Side Bet Paytable
- Royal Flush – 100 to 1
- Straight Flush – 50 to 1
- 4 of a Kind – 40 to 1
- Full House – 30 to 1
- Flush – 20 to 1
- Pair of Aces Through Straight – 7 to 1
Basic Casino Hold’em Strategy
If you plan to play Casino Hold’em at online casinos like Golden Lion Casino or Casino Max, you need to know some basic strategy. This isn’t like regular poker where you can bluff your way out of some situations. You need a solid strategy to know when to stay in a hand and when to fold.
Below are the situations where you should make the Call bet on the flop:
- Holding a pair or better
- Holding ace or king-high with the ace or king in your hand
- When you have two overcards to the board, meaning your hole cards are higher than what’s showing.
- When you have queen or jack high with the queen or jack in your hand. The exception is if there is a three flush on board and you don’t hold that suit.
- When you need one card to complete a straight or flush
- If you have a jack or higher in your hand on a paired board.
In all other situations, you should fold your hand. When using an optimal strategy, you can reduce the house edge on Casino Hold’em down to just 2.5%
Finally, like other table games, you should avoid the AA side bet in this game. The casino has a house edge of 6.26%. Most online slot games offer better odds than that.
Now that you know the basics of how to play Casino Hold’em and the optimal strategy to play the game, it’s time to give it a try. While you aren’t going to become a World Champion of Poker by playing this game, you will find a fun alternative to slots and blackjack.
