October is here and thoughts turn to fall and Halloween. Rival is getting you in the mood with Dr. Acula. Dr. Acula is a 3-Reel, 5-payline classic slot game that features the old school version of Dracula as “Dr. Acula.”

The game is set up like 3-Reel slots that you’d find in live casinos. Payouts can be massive on multi-line wins with a top win of 5,000 credits.

The Dr. Is In – To Suck Your Blood!

Dr. Acula is an interesting take on the vampire genre. The main character is Dr. Acula, but he is played by the classic silent movie version of the iconic vampire. If you never seen Nosferatu, do yourself a favor and watch it.

The game is pretty straightforward, allowing you to bet 1 to 3 coins on 1 to 5 lines. For example, if you bet .01 on max coins and max lines, you will pay .15 per spin. Payouts are in credits, which is the base amount of a single coin. In our example, each credit is .01.

Dr. Acula Main Game

Regarding the game’s theme, the backdrop looks like a wall in Dracula, I mean Dr. Acula’s castle. The music is a creepy organ theme like you’d hear in many vampire or horror movies from the ’50s or 60s. It’s actually quite charming.

This game has a classic mix of low, medium, and high paying symbols. Here’s a quick list of payouts based on max coins.

  • Two Vampire Nurses – 3
  • Three Vampire Nurses – 6
  • Three Blood Syringes – 9
  • Three Blood Bags – 15
  • Three Blood Vials – 30
  • Three Green Triple 7s – 60
  • Three Black Triple 7s – 150
  • Three Gold Triple 7s – 225
  • Three Dr. Aculas – 1,000
  • Any Three Triple 7s – 6
  • Any Three Blood Items – 3

The Dr. Acula symbol also serves as the wild for this game. It will complete a winning line when possible. It will also pay when you hit three on a payline.

Dr. Acula Paytable

No Bonus Games Available

When I said that this slot game was like old school classic slot games, I wasn’t joking. This game does not feature any additional bonus games as you’d see from modern slot games. That’s why the pay symbols are so generous at the top.

Dr. Acula Big Win

This game has a top prize of 5,000 credits if you happen to fill every reel with a Dr. Acula. That’s $250 on the minimum bet and up to $25,000 on a max bet of $5 per coin. That’s not too bad for a classic slot game.

Dr. Acula a Fun, Yet Streaky Online Slot Game

When I decided to review Dr. Acula, I initially regretted my choice. When looking at the details of the game, I saw the game has an RTP of just 94.60%. That’s among the lowest of any slot game that I’ve reviewed in the last year. I expected this game to be super tight and to lose most of my money in this session.

That’s not what happened. This game for a while played like a loose classic low variance slot game. I hit numerous wins and some nice Big Wins. Then the machine went cold as Dr. Acula’s nurse. A true roller coaster of a ride with this game. However, it was still a ton of fun.

If you plan to play this game, keep in mind that the RTP is low and that it is very streaky. For those looking to clear online casino bonuses, stick to bets of .15 or .75. For my testing, I mostly played at .75 per bet.

Dr. Acula is available at Golden Lion Casino and any US online casino offering Rival slot games. While it doesn’t have many of the features of modern slots, just like classic horror movies, it is still a lot of fun.
