Boomerang Casino launched on January 4 in the Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi) gambling zone in Russia. Boomerang Casino is part of Rosa Khutor, a resort in the mountains surrounding the area. The casino’s address is 35 Olimpiyskaya Street, Estosadok.

The casino is valued at almost one billion rubles, which equates to roughly $150 million. Boomerang has 204 slot machines and 20 gaming tables, including roulette and a variety of table games, such as blackjack, baccarat, and table poker.

Sochi Domain LLC estimates that the casino will generate 400 new jobs in the area. Domain, as it is called, has been developing the Lrasnaya Polyana gambling zone since January 2017.

Like the first casino in the area, Boomerang Casino is located in the alpine ski resort area of Estosadok (pictured right) — not in the city limits of Sochi itself. The mountainous area is picturesque, thus giving visitors an excellent view of the entire region while they enjoy world-class casino gambling.

Sochi and Estosadok Resort Areas

Sochi is the resort city said to be Russian President Vladimir Putin’s favorite vacation destination. In the runup to the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Russian Federation and the International Olympic Committee spent a combined $50 billion to build stadiums, arenas, ski slopes, and hotels in Sochi.

With the end of the Olympics, Vladimir Putin wanted to turn the modern resort city to good use. Thus, the Finance Ministry told the three casinos in Azov City to close, as it was a rival destination for casino goers. The operators were encouraged to invest in Sochi casinos instead.

Sochi Casino Development

With the launch of the Boomerang project, investments in Sochi now have reached 5 billion rubles ($750 million). The first and biggest of the resorts is Sochi Casino, which opened in January 2017 on the site of the old Gorki Gorod mountain resorts.

Sochi Casino is said to have a gaming space of 30,000 square meters in size (100,000 square feet), though reports suggest it is the largest casino in Eastern Europe, so it is significantly larger than that. Sochi Casino also has 1,600 employees, though this is sometimes reported as 16,000.

Readers might have seen its name spelled “Kazino Sochi” in English translations. The casino is located on Estonkaya Street in the rural locality of Estosadok outside Sochi. Estosadok is administered by the Adlersky City District of the city of Sochi in an alpine ski district. The Roza Khutor railway station connects Estosadok with Adler railway station and the Sochi International Airport in Sochi.

Bonus Casino – Russian Slots Parlor

In December 2017, Sochi Casino’s Phase Two expansion, Bonus Casino, opened in the same complex in the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone. Bonus Casino included slots machines, turning Kazino Sochi into a full casino.

Dmitry Anfinogenov, a spokesman for Sochi Casino, said at the time of the grand opening that Bonus would open later in the year.

Mr. Anfinogenov said that Sochi Casino drew 300,000 visitors in its first year of operations (2017). With the addition of the more affordable slots games, the operators set a goal of 430,000 visitors in 2018. As figures for 2018 have not been released yet as of early 2019, it is not known if Sochi Casino reached its goal.
