Online Casino Registering

As with most things in life, how you start a new endeavor has a major impact on its success or failure. The same is true when signing up to play at real money online casinos. If you make mistakes when signing up, you may set yourself up for failure, or at the least, you may not be able to take advantage of all the benefits that a casino has to offer.

Today, we will look at five mistakes online casino players make when registering for a new account. Pay careful attention so you don’t make these mistakes the next time you sign up to play at a new casino.

Entering False Information

The worst mistake you can make when signing up for an online casino account is putting in false information. Some players will put in false data to try and hide their identity. This may be something minor like putting in a wrong birthday to something as major as putting in a false name or address.

The biggest problem with putting in false information is that you are setting yourself up to have your account suspended and your funds seized. Online casinos take fraud very seriously and putting in false information constitutes fraud. Many casinos have the ability to suspend your account and seize your funds when they’ve determined that you’ve committed fraud.

If you happen to enter false information by mistake, such as saying you were born on September 1 instead of September 10, you can usually correct this information without any issue. Sometimes you can contact customer support. If you knowingly put in false information on an account, we recommend correcting the information before depositing or even registering for a new account with the correct data.

Select the Wrong Online Casino Bonus

Many US online casinos offer a wide variety of online casino bonuses. Some even offer multiple bonuses that can be used at sign up. The most common bonus is the Welcome Bonus. It is typically the most generous. However, it may not be the best fit. If you like to play blackjack or other online casino games, a casino games bonus may be a better fit than the Welcome Bonus which is usually best for online slots.

Sometimes, players make one of two mistakes. The first is that they pick the wrong bonus when signing up for an account. They automatically go with the bonus that’s populated on the registration page or they select the wrong bonus from the list. If a code is required, they enter the wrong code. The other mistake is that they don’t pick a bonus and sign up without a bonus.

This mistake is often easily corrected. If you don’t deposit at the same time you registered for an account, you can typically still get the bonus when you deposit. Otherwise, you may need to contact customer service to get help in getting your bonus.

Selecting the Wrong Currency

There are times where you will sign up for a casino that defaults to a currency other than your own. If you’re a US player playing at a Canadian online casino, the default currency may be CAD. It’s important that you select the correct currency when signing up. Otherwise, you may cost yourself money when making an online casino deposit.

For example, if you are a US player and the site defaults to Euro, you will pay more for your deposit. 50 Euro is worth around $59 USD at the time of this writing. Not a big difference, but a notable one nonetheless.

Correcting this mistake is generally simple. You can either change the currency to your preferred currency in your account settings or contact customer support for assistance.

Failing to Secure Your Account

Most online casinos now allow you the ability to secure your account using Two-Factor Authentication or Google Authenticator. If you are not doing this, you are leaving yourself vulnerable to hacks and other forms of attacks.

Online casinos tend to have a higher instance of DDoS attacks and other forms of hacking than standard sites. You want to secure your account with 2FA or other available features to prevent hackers from getting your information. 2FA and other security options can be accessed under your account settings.

Signing Up From a Restricted Country

There are many online casinos that block players from select countries. For example, a number of casinos block US players. If you try to access them, they will block you from going to the site. However, not all casinos will block you.

Some players will try and get around blocks by using a VPN or by putting in false account information. DO NOT DO THIS! It is blatant fraud and you will get your account blocked at some point, usually, once you try and cash out from the casino. The way to avoid this is by not signing up at the casino.
