Samba Nights Slot from Amaya

I really expected this slot to be livelier from the title – and was a little confused to find that the base game is mostly quiet. There is a small samba tune (along with a laugh) that plays when you hit a win with the wild symbol – and that is it. When you hit the bonus feature, this Amaya video slot springs into life. There is a very lively soundtrack, and the multipliers on wins will be a good way to help you to party too!

How to Win on Samba Nights

There are 50 win lines on Samba nights, and stacked wild symbols on the reels which can cover the entire reel in symbols that substitute for any others to create extra wins – which have their prize doubled. This means that you will often hit many wins at the same time from a single spin. When you get a wild that covers an entire reel, this turns into an animation of the lady dancing.

It is the lady in the carnival costume you want to see the most of on the reels. This is the wild, and will substitute for everything except for the beach symbol (the scatter). This wild is also the top paying symbol in its own right. 5 on a line gets you 2000 coins, with 200 coins for 4, 50 for 3 and 4 for just 2. This is a long way above the next best symbols which are 2 guys, one with a trumpet and the other breathing fire. These have a top payout of 175 coins for the full set of 5. A tambourine (complete with hands) comes next at 150 coins – along with a selection of cocktails, and playing card symbols with lively and bright designs make up the smaller wins.

Bonus Free Spins Round on Samba Nights

There is only a single feature outside of the wild symbols for this game – though fortunately you will often find this a profitable one. The bonus game is triggered by hitting 3 of the beach symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. You also get 2x your bet as an instant win when lining up all 3 symbols.

You get 20 free spins and a 2x multiplier (on top of the 2x multiplier for wins which include a wild symbol). The background of the slot changes to a night time scene, and the lively music kicks in. You can retrigger for more free spins while this bonus is in play – these are simply added to your total. You can see the total spins remaining in a narrow strip underneath the reels, and your wins accumulate in a new box which appears below this.

Design and Setup of Samba Nights

Around the outside of the reels you’ll find fireworks, streamers and feathers all over a tropical sunset scene. On the reels the symbols are bright and multi-colored – creating the vibrant and slightly hectic overall feel of this slot. Some of the symbols are very detailed, with the guy in the hat breathing fire particularly standing out.

There are animations when you win, and that samba music will quickly fade in and out when a wild is involved. The lady dancer will shimmy for wins, and the animation of her when an entire reel fills with wilds is excellent. When you hit the bonus game the background turns to night, though the other graphics stay the same. During the free spins a very lively samba track plays. For me the base game could have done with a little more music too!

Samba Nights uses a 5 reel and 4 row setup, which enables the larger 50 win-line setup to be used. You could lower the 50 win-line default if you wish, though this would mean fewer lines to take advantage of the stacked wild symbols. You can bet from 1c per line up to a huge $20 (which is $1000 per spin!). A configurable auto play is offered.

Overall Experience with Samba Nights

The Brazilian carnival type theme has been done before by many slot software houses, and the results are usually a lot livelier than this one. While the base game is solid enough, it feels a little flat compared to the expectations which come from the title. A little music or better animations would quickly fix this. On the plus side, things do spring to life when the free spins round starts – with a very lively soundtrack to go with your 2x multiplier.
